Dr. Farah Lakhani
Dr. Lakhani was born in Calgary, Alberta but grew up in Kitchener, Ontario. She obtained her Bachelor of Science with Honours and a major in Biology from the University of Waterloo. Before starting optometry school, she underwent a voluntary medical mission in Puerto Rico and Nicaragua with a group of professionals to help set up medical clinics in underserved areas in order to treat the local people. She graduated with her Doctorate of Optometry Degree from the New England College of Optometry. Her time spent at the Codman Health Centre in Boston, Massachusetts focused greatly on glaucoma and diabetic patients. She also served at an Ambulatory Care Centre in Newport, Rhode Island where she gained insight into providing eye care in a military multidisciplinary environment. Her emphasis at the Veterans hospital in White River Junction, Vermont was primarily in the pre and post-operative management of ocular disease and trauma. Her love of children and passion to teach comes from her time spent at The Vision Institute in Toronto, Ontario. There she performed binocular vision evaluations and vision therapy sessions as well as exams on infants and visually impaired children. During her free time, Dr. Lakhani enjoys running, reading, and baking.
Dr. Jared Decker
Dr. Decker is a Calgary native and set his sights on the Optometry profession while still in high school. He attended the University of Calgary, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree for Biology/Chemistry in 2009. He continued his education at the University of Houston’s College of Optometry, graduating in 2013 with his Doctorate of Optometry. While at the University of Houston, Dr. Decker was involved in student volunteer groups, a member of the school’s Dry Eye Clinic, a TA, and received two awards from the faculty for patient care. Interning at a low-income Hispanic clinic in Houston has given Dr. Decker experience with glaucoma, diabetes, and other ocular diseases. He then spent four months at an eye hospital in Stockholm, Sweden, working with other Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, and Nurses in both primary and emergency settings. Dr. Decker enjoys spending his time biking, hiking, and camping in the Rockies, but is also happy at home with a good book or cooking with friends.
Dr. Clark Tardiff
Dr. Tardiff was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick. He graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Business Administration. As part of his studies, he spent a semester studying at the Helsinki School of Economics in Mikkeli, Finland. After this he went on to obtain his Optometry degree from Cardiff University’s School of Optometry and Vision Sciences in the United Kingdom, graduating in 2011. Dr. Tardiff has spent two years working as an Optometrist at a large practice in England, which has exposed him to a wide range of patients. In 2013, he returned home to Canada to complete the International Optometric Bridging Program at the University of Waterloo and successfully passed the Canadian Assessment of Competency in Optometry board exam. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Mallory Lovett
Dr. Mallory Lovett grew up in Dartmouth Nova Scotia where she attended Dalhousie University in the Bachelor of Science program, majoring in Biology. She then attended Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, graduating with a Doctor of Optometry and receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Visual Science. Dr. Lovett is specialty trained in the field of vision therapy and vision rehabilitation. She was selected to be one of the few private practice vision therapy residents in the US and completed this residency at Appelbaum Eye Care Associates, PC in Bethesda, MD. During this residency she gained experience in the diagnosis and treatment of binocular vision and visual perceptual disorders, working with a wide variety of patients of all ages including those with traumatic brain injury and patients with autism spectrum disorders. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as travelling.
Dr. Sarah Cheng
Dr. Sarah Cheng was born and raised in Edmonton. While growing up, she visited her local optometrist annually and over the years she fell in love with the profession that is centered around working with people on an individual basis. This inspired her to pursue her undergraduate studies at The University of Alberta and she proceeded to earn her Doctorate of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry. During her time in Boston, she devoted time to several community health centers (including Joseph M. Smith and Dorchester House) and completed two rotations serving veterans at VA Portland-Hillsboro and VA Boston-Lowell. Dr. Cheng has also had the opportunity to serve special groups of the population such as individuals with disabilities at New England Eye Perkins and the pediatric population with the New England Eye mobile van. She also has exposure employing scleral lenses to treat and manage many diseases that occur at the anterior portion of the eye. Her education and training has given her the tools to serve her community and the ability to be an empathetic practitioner who sees eye care as a team approach involving the patient. Her other passions include running outdoors, reading, and collecting vinyl.
Dr. Michele Webster
Dr. Michele Webster was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She attended the University of Saskatchewan, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Pharmacology. She then moved to Forest Grove, Oregon to attend the Pacific University College of Optometry. She graduated in 2016 with a Doctor of Optometry. During her externships, she managed ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy at the Lebanon VA in Pennsylvania. Dr. Webster gained experience in specialty contact lenses in Tucson, Arizona and managed pre- and post-surgery care in Reno, Nevada. She spent 3 months at an Indian Health Services clinic in rural Wyoming where she gained experience in primary care and pediatrics. In her spare time, Dr. Webster likes to travel, watch movies, and hang out with her family and friends.
Dr. Elizabeth Yan
Born and raised in Calgary, Dr. Elizabeth Yan is excited to serve the Calgary area as an optometrist of Dr. Farah Lakhani and Associates. Dr. Yan completed her undergraduate studies in Honors Biology at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario and went on to pursue her Doctorate of Optometry at The New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. Her externships include the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, Boston Medical Center, New England Eye Institute, and an extended period of time at the Perkins School for the Blind where she focused on pediatric low vision. As a result of these rotations and a service trip to Belize, she realized the importance of helping patients understand their unique eyes and hopes to continue providing exceptional care in all modes of optometry. Dr. Yan is able to perform exams in Cantonese and her specialties include contact lenses, pediatric and low vision examinations. Dr. Yan is married to her high school sweetheart and enjoys running, yoga, and community gatherings in her spare time.
Dr. Leha Do
Dr. Leha Do was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. She attended the University of Calgary where she majored in Biological Sciences before moving to Chicago, Illinois where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry. While on externship rotations, she worked in both public and private sector primary eye care. While working at the Jesse Brown Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Dr. Do provided treatment and management of various ocular disease cases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and optic atrophy. She gained experience working in pediatrics at another rotation with Chicago Public Schools where she provided eye care and vision therapy for students of low-income families. During her rotation at a private practice in Chicago, she fit various contact lenses ranging from multifocal soft contacts, specialty scleral lenses, ortho-k and hybrid lenses. In her spare time, Dr. Do enjoys going for bike rides, baking, dining, and taking her puppy, named Peanut, on walks.
Dr. Tannis Rode
Dr. Rode completed a Biology degree at the University of Calgary prior to graduating from the University of Waterloo Optometry program with honours in 2014. She practiced in south-western Ontario for two years before returning to her home province of Alberta in 2016. She loves her job as an optometrist, and particularly enjoys working with children. She has travelled to Peru, Mexico, and Honduras on humanitarian eye care trips. Hiking and playing board games are her favourite pastimes outside of the office.
Dr. Jordan Laing
Dr. Jordan Laing was born and raised in Estevan, Saskatchewan. He knew he wanted to be an optometrist from a young age as his annual visit to the local optometrist was his favorite health check up and being able to help people of all ages was very appealing to him. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Regina in 2012 and went on to study at the Pacific University College of Optometry until his graduation in 2016. He spent his final year of school completing 3-month externships throughout the United States gaining experience with specialty contact lenses in Missouri, LASIK evaluations in Oregon, and ocular disease in Arizona. He also had the pleasure of providing primary care services to the United States Airforce at Hickam AFB in Hawaii. He is excited to be returning to Canada to continue providing eye care services to the community. In his spare time, Dr. Laing enjoys sports, travelling, and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Tony Mann
Dr. Tony Mann is a 1993 graduate of the University of Alberta where he obtained a Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Sciences. He subsequently graduated with his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1998 from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Mass. During his optometric education, Dr. Mann did rotations in VA Boston as well as the Cataract and Laser Insititute in San Antonio, Texas where he was exposed to a variety of eye pathologies and treatments. He is the proud father of two boys, Nisahwn 14 and Jovin 12. His hobbies include yoga, reading, travelling, and cooking. He is also a passionate fan of the Edmonton Oilers.
Dr. Lakshmi Easwaran
Dr. Lakshmi Thondikulam Easwaran graduated from the Elite School of Optometry, India in 2000. After working in a busy eye hospital in India for three years, Dr. Easwaran’s interest in vision sciences led her to University of Waterloo, Canada in 2003. Under the guidance of Dr. William Bobier, Dr. Easwaran completed her Masters with a special interest in Binocular vision. In 2010, Dr. Easwaran completed her international bridging program in Optometry and started practicing in Camrose. With the experience of working in Camrose for the last seven years, Dr.Easwaran has now moved to Edmonton to practice Optometry. Her special areas of interest include orthokeratology, low vision, vision therapy and ocular nutrition. In between raising her children, Dr. Easwaran earned her place as a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) in 2013. In her spare time, Dr. Easwaran enjoys running and catering to the taste buds of her children.
